How to setup a Windows 2003 as additional DC of Windows 2000 Active Directory

I have a Windows 2000 domain with a Windows 2000 DC. I'm going to introduce
a new server with Windows 2003 to be my only DC of the domain after I could
shut down the actual DC Windows 2000. Now I'm quering about the steps to be
done to reach my goal. I have two opportunities, I think:

a) Do I need to install Windows 2000 additional DC to the new server box,
then trannferring the FSMO roles from actual DC and demote the actual DC to
server member prior to shut it down. Then could I upgrade the DC from
Windows 2000 to Windows 2003 ?

b) Does exists a procedure to introduce a Windows 2003 server as additional
DC of Windows 2000 domain and then tranferring the roles from DC Windows
2000 to DC Windows 2003 to be the only DC of Windows 2003 domains ?

Thanks

1. run adprep /forestprep from the W2K3 CD.
2. run adprep /domainprep from the W2K3 CD.
3. install your W2K3 server as a member server in the domain.
4. run dcpromo to make it a DC.
5. transfer all FSMO to the W2K3 DC with NTDSUTIL or UI.
6. install all services you need such as DNS, WINS etc..
7. use xcopy to copy any data from the old server to the new and retain
permissions.
8. run dcpromo on the W2K server to demote it to a member server
9. remove the W2K server from the domain and delete the machine account.
10. If you're not going to use any W2K DCs anymore raise the functionaliy
level to Windows Server 2003 both on the domain and forest.
