how to set up a shared folder

I've searched the list for this, but couldn't find an explanation that I
could understand explicitly:

I have Outlook 2003 running on my main desktop computer.
I have other computers on my home network, both wired and wirelss) that can
share folders via the router. Each also has Outlook '03.
I'd like to be able to access email, contacts, etc. on the main desktop from
other computers.

I've seen posts regarding using a shared .pst file, as well as the warning
regarding whether this is a proper method or not. Nonetheless, I assume the
idea to make your personal outlook folder shareable on the main computer, and
then, somehow, configure outlook on another pc to use that network folder as
its personal folder.

My questions are: How do you do this?
What kind of account do I select when the Outlook setup wizard starts?
When/how/where in the remote outlook do I get to specify the location of the
shared file/ folder on the main pc?
Which .pst file do I specify? A search turned up 2 in my
Document&Setting...Outlook folder - mailbox.pst and PDmailbox.pst

If this has been explained somewhere, please provide the link or reference.

Thanks!

Sharing a pst-file over the network is indeed not recommended or supported
by Microsoft. Also note that even when you d use this method that only 1
session of Outlook can access the pst-file at a time.

The corporate solution is to use Exchange, but that is might be a bit too
much (in both money and configuring/supporting) if you are a home user.

What do you want to achieve? Do you want to be able to share in real time?
Then take a look at MAPILab Groupware Server;

If you decide to order use "4PM76A8" to get a discount.
