How to set the default Contact follow up reminder time in outlook

John Benstead

When I set a follow up for a Contact in Outlook 2007, and set a reminder for
that follow up, the initial time is set to 4:00pm.
A 4:00pm reminder is not that useful.
I know that I can change the time manually for each reminder, but I would
like to reset the default reminder time for the morning.
Is anyone aware of where I can set this?

Do you have your work hours defined in Outlook? You can change the default reminder time using the Tasks reminder option. Tools->options->Task Options.

Hi Milly

Thanks for the prompt reply, however your response is related to "Task"
reminders.
My question relates to the "Follow up" reminder time setting when I set a
reminder for a "follow up" against a "Contact"

Any further assistance would be appreciated.

Best regards

Hi Milly

Yes, I reviewed your suggestion, but as I said...
Your response is related to "Task" reminders, the "Task" reminders work fine
(mine are set to 8:00am).
However, my question relates to the "Follow up" reminder time setting when I
set a reminder for a "follow up" against a "Contact"...

Right-click on a Contact and select follow-up, or open a Contact and select
follow-up from the menu.

My default setting for the reminder time here is 4:00pm

Any further assistance would be appreciated.

Hey John-

This was in an older post. I was looking for a solution to the same issue
you were having and this works....

The default reminder time is actually one hour before the "End Time" you have
set in Tools | Options | Calendar Options | Calendar Work Week. You must
have 5:00 PM set as your workday end time. You'd have to change that to
something else to change the default flag reminder time.
