Change Outlook 2007 contact reminder default time from 4:00pm

Wiseman

When I set a follow-up reminder for a contact in Outlook 2007, the default
reminder time is set at 4:00pm!!!
I know if I change my working day from 8:00am-4:00pm to 8:00am-9:00am it
will move the default reminder time to 8:00am as the default reminder time is
set to one hour before the end of your working day which is useless as most
people start there working day at 8:00am not 4:00pm.

The problem is my working day is from 8:00am - 5:00pm and that is how I want
outlook set-up. If I set my working day to 8:00am-5:00pm then my default
reminder, start time moves to 4:00pm one hour before the end of my workday.
Very stupid if you ask me. The programmer must have been smoking weed and
only started work at 4:00pm.

Seems to me that this is a huge bug in Outlook 2007 that has not been fixed.
When will Microsoft release a fix for this problem?

10 years from now?

if you use the today flag, the reminder is the end of the work day - as the
start of the work day has already passed. If you want it for 8 am the next
day, use the tomorrow flag. You can set it as the quick click default.

Thank you Diane for your reply and help.

I see how you can do a work around by selecting "Follow-up" then "Tomorrow"
and then again selecting "Follow-up" then "Custom" and then changing the date
and then ticking the "Remind-me" Radio button.

A bit long and tedious when have over 400 reminders to set throughout the
months ahead and no of the reminder are for tomorrow or next week.

Can they fix so that when you select “Follow-upâ€--- "Remind-me" or "Custom"
it has the 8:00am time as default and you can then just select the date.
Most people don’t need to be reminded on the same day.

Maybe I am just missing something here but I can’t find anything on settings
for “quick click†for "Remind-me"?

How do I delete posts, as I seem to have multi posted from a web page?

Set the default quick click for tomorrow. Now you can choose custom and the
time will default to 8 am.

So.. right click on the flag area and choose Set Quick Click. Choose
tomorrow (or this week or next week) and set it as the default action. Now
when you right click and choose Custom or Reminder, the time will default to
8am (or the start of your work day). Set or change the date and you are all
set.

Thank you Diane. You have to right click on the flag in the to-do bar on the
right side of outlook for you to set the default and not on the flag above
the contact window. Worked that one out.

Thank you much you have solved my problem. XXX

This is still an issue with the Office 2010 beta and its the same level of effort to adjust the 4pm time as the steps outlined here. Still an "issue".

After looking through the options this is now working.

Click on File in Outlook 2010.

Click on Options.

Click on Tasks.

Set the default reminder time to a time good for your planning purposes.
