How to send from Outbox automatically

R

Ronk

I am running MS Outlook 2002. I am connected through COX
Cable using my LAN. My SMTP Outgoing mail server is
smtp.east.cox.net.
When I click send, to send an email, it goes in my
Outbox. I then have to click send/receive to send the
email. Is there anyway the email can
just send automatically from the outbox to avoid having to
click send in 2 steps?
I checked Check Tools | Options | Mail Setup.
The 'Send immediately when connected' box is checked.
Also in the Send/receive group, both include the group
online & offline are both checked.
Is this just the way Outlook works, or can the email be
sent without having to stay in Outbox until Send/receive
is clicked?

Normally Outlook will send immediately. So you've most likely misconfigured
something. That's why I asked you for your configuration setting, which you
failed to provide. Examine your mail account settings and tell me the
connection type you _specified_ for your mail account. What polling interval
did you set in Send/Receive groups?

R

Ronk

I gave you all of the information I could find under Email
setup. I do not know where else to find any other
connection type or polling intervals. Include the group
in Send/Receive is checked. Originally Schedule an
automatic Send/Receive was not check but I checked it and
changed it to 1 minute but it still does not automatically
send from Outbox.

Well for starters, a 1 minute interval is just nuts--asking for trouble. 10
minutes is the recommended minimum.
I don't understand why you can't examine the settings for your email
account's Connection Tab. What does it show? It's under the More Settings...
button.

As I already told you under connection tab, I have Connect
using my local Area Network (LAN) checked. That is all
that is checked.
I also said it would not send when I didn't have "schedule
an auto send/receive" checked. I don't even want it
scheduled. I only changed it to 1 minute, just to test
it. And it still didn't work.

No, you did not tell me your connection setting. You only said you were
using a LAN. That does not mean your connection setting was correct.
One of your settings or accounts is corrupt. Create a new profile and
recreate your email accounts. Outlook 2002 will always send and receive
immediately with a LAN connection setting.

When I said I was using a LAN, I was trying to answer your
original question regarding connection configuration.
I have 3 email accounts and they all leave the email in
Outbox until I manually Send/Receive. Just for the sake
of it, I just created another amail account and I still
have the same problem with it. I know someone else at
another location that says they have the same problem and
that is just how MS Outook works. According to you, I
should not have to send manually. What else do I need to
check?

No. That is not the way Outlook works. If you have the "Send immediately"
option selected for an account configured as a LAN connection, you will not
have to hit Send/Receive to send it unless you have inadvertently set your
profile to "Work Offline." Look in your File menu to make sure you didn't do
that.
