How to restrict the DB

Lately, we seem to be having a lot of LOST RECORDS in the
database. Is there any way that I can put a LOCK on a
specific field so that only a single person can make
edits to that field? Our database was built on Access
2000 and is on a share server drive so everyone can
enter infromation, run reports, ect. How can I solve this
problem. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

Depending upon the trust level you have with your employees, you can either
implement full Access user-level security:
