hi to all
i used to restore a previous copy from the registery using scanreg/restore in windows me ...how can i restore a previous copy from the registery in windows xp pro
without using the system restore tools
thanks

The following articale describes how to restore the registry from the
recovery console, whihc is run form the XP CDROM:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307545

In the future, save your self some trouble by getting some software that
saves a copy of the registry and can restore it in a more convenint manner.
Possibilities include ERUNT (free), WinRescueXP (not free), but there are
others out there.

i think reg restore is my need but when i typed that command in the prompt a message displayed that a parameter is missing.

but i discover know the reg restore command restore an exact file from the registery that assumed that i know the file to restore
but scanreg restore command restore all registery not a certain file so i think this feature is disabled in xp .
