how to restore documents in a password protected partion,

G

Guest

after restoring windows xp. I had bad memory in the computer, and after
rebooting, the configuration system was corrupted. I could not open windows
even in the safe mode. I had to restore windows, did not format drive.
Anyways I have windows working fine, got a gig of ram replaced by kingston.
My documents (100 gigs of music and movies) are still on my hard drive. I
can"t acess it because i had a password protected partion. It says acess
denied. My former password protected user account was deleted when i restored
windows. I had no system restore dates after logging on to windows, those
were lost in the restore windows. Anybody got a drift about my problem?
Any help is much appreciated.
Thx, Cliff

If simple file sharing is enabled, you see the simple file sharing user
interface appears instead of the Security and Sharing tabs. By default, this
new user interface is implemented in Windows XP Home Edition and in Microsoft
Windows XP Professional if you are working in a workgroup. If you turn off
simple file sharing, the classic Security and Sharing tabs appear, and you
can specify which users and groups have access to shared folders on your
computer.

How to turn off simple file sharing
To disable simple file sharing, follow these steps:1. Click Start, and then
click My Computer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click the View tab.
3. In the Advanced Settings section, clear the Use simple file sharing
(Recommended) check box.
4. Click OK.
