How to restore components of Windows xp

I removed the powerpoint and excel programs. Can I use
the system recovery disks without erasing information
currently stored on the computer?
 
Programs such as Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel can
be found by using your Microsoft Office installation CD.
These programs are not usually found on your "system
recovery disks" which are designed to reinstall Windows XP.
