How to restore a minimized program

I have a HP computer with a program 'HP Organize' which opens automatically
when the computer starts.... that's okay with me....however, the last time I
minimized this program, it went as usual to the lower task bar but when I
tried to maximize the program by clicking on the task bar button, it refuses
to maximize itself again. Now every time I start the computer this program
opens up and then immediately minimizes itself in the lower task bar and
refuses to maximize itself again. It behaves the same way if I open up this
program from Program Files. Any idea how to fix this ?

Settings may have become corrupted.

Could hunt through the registry for settings related to the program

eg at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE

or you could try uninstalling it and reinstalling it, which would probably
be simpler

Are you sure it's minimised? A taskbar button's context menu is different to the state of the program. A "Normal" window has Restore greyed out. A maximised window has maximised greyed out. A minimised window has Minimise greyed out.

Check that it is minimised and stays minimised if you click it.

The hypothsis is that the window is off screen when in the restore state. This will make it appear as if it's minimised.

Oh yes it is minimized and stayed in the lower task bar with the minimized
choice greyed out. When I click on the restore choice, nothing happens but
the restore choice became greyed out. The window is not off-screen as I can
perform 'minimize' and 'restore' functions on other programs.

What happened to Minimise choice after you choose Restore.

Minimised windows normally appear on the desktop. Explorer then moves the window off screen. If explorer crashes and the program remembers it's screen positions then it will start off screen down and to the left.

When 'restore' choice is available, 'minimize' greyed out, and when I picked
'restore', it didn't bring the program up to the window display but the
'restore' choice greyed out and 'minimize' choice becomes available again.

Your window is just off screen (or maybe very small). Right click a blank spot on the taskbar and choose Tile. Try to have that as the only open program.

Yes, uninstall HP Organize or disable it from loading.

No it doesn't work, some files may have been corrupted and caused this,
thanks anyway.

Good advice, but how do I reinstall this program afterwards when this program
doesn't come with a CD as it is preinstalled by HP ?

Minimise has to be greyed out as the command only applies to normal and maximised programs.

The installer for the program may well be located on your harddrive

Look in
C:\WINDOWS\Installer
for starters, for files ending in .msi.
Hover your mouse over them and you may spot the one you need
