how to "replace" in a marked up document

When i do a global change and replace words in the marked up document, the
fucntion replaces even all the deleted, crossed out words in the document.

The problem is it replaces these deleted words with undeleted words, which
means I have to go through the whole document to get rid of them.

Is there a way around this?
 
Why don't you display your final document without mark-up then apply the
global changes?

I need to show the global change as marked up as well, so cannot do that.
