How to remove XP Pro from a former boot drive keeping settings

After quite a bit of work it is clear that my XP Pro has accumulated so many
bits and pieces that I need to make a clean install. The trick is that the
boot drive is a SATA mirror (two physical drives) which I want to assign a
higher drive letter and use solely for data (including the MY DOCUMENTS and
E-MAIL folders). I'll be adding a new physical SATA drive and assigning it
to C: (boot), using the same (upgrade) disk to install Pro again.
QUESTIONS:
A. How do I clean off the maximum of XP Pro from the (old) boot drive (the
mirror)?
B. Is it possible to migrate the existing settings? How?
C. Must I re-install all applications? If so, is it possible to cleanly
just delete the current registry?
D. If I should copy some portions of the registry, how do I identify them?
Thanks a bundle.

If you want to 'clean up' you would want to clean install.
Brake the mirror, shutdown disconnect drives, connect your new sata, install
winxp, update
Once functional install your programs, reconnect your other drives and do
whatever with them
