Automatic Update may be notifying you. To disable this:
1. Click Start | Run | Services.msc
2. Double-click "Automatic Updates"
3. Change the Startup Mode to "Disabled" and Stop the service.
NOTE: This service enables the download and installation of critical Windows
updates. If the service is disabled, the operating system can be manually
updated at the Windows Update Web site.

How can I remove Windows Update from my desktop, or at
least stop it from popping up? Prefer to remove it
altogether. Appreciate any help!
