How to remove program name from Add/Remove

I have discovered a program listed in the Add/Remove column which is no longer
installed but the name is still there and will not remove.
Is there a way to do that?

The old version of TweakUI would do it but the new version won't.

Start---run---regedit--click OK
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACH_Software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall
Highlite and delete.
This is a very common problem,.

A freeware program called "Reg Cleaner" works very well for that.

You may either clear the invalid entries manually by editing the registry (or) download iolo technology's System Mechanic (www.iolo.com). It is a nice utility using which you can clear the invalid Add/Remove entries.

To remove the invalid/orphaned entries from the Add/Remove applet manually [Windows 2000/XP]

1. Start Registry Editor (Regedit.exe).
2. Locate the following key in the registry:
3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
4. Make sure you backup the keys by exporting them to a .reg file.
5. Look for the name of the program with the orphaned entry.
6. Delete the entire listing for the software with the orphaned entry.
7. Close the registry editor.
8. Restart your computer.
