How to remove pinball.inf

pinball.inf seems to be causing some issues with my machine. In Add or Remove
Programs, when I click Add/Remove Windows Components, 4 seperate alerts pop
up.
1. Windows XP Setup: Another copy of this setup program is running. Please
wait until the other setup is completed before attempting to run this program
again
2. Winows XP setup: Setup was unable to open information file pinball.inf .
Contact your system administrator. The specific error code is Ox2 at line
2088999411.
3. Windows XP Setup: The application could not be initialized.
4. Windows XP Setup: Please Wait
When I enter pinball into Search, I get a file titled: pinball, in:
C:\Program Files\Windows NT, Type: File Folder, Date Modified: 12/12/2005
3:38 PM.

When I attempt to delete the file I am shown an Error Deleting File or
Folder box stating: Cannot delete pinball: It is being used by another person
or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again.

How do I get rid of this?
Thanks

The error message occurs if pinball.inf file is missing from the %windir%\inf folder. You can download it from here:

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/temp/pinball.inf

Move it to the %windir%\inf folder.

Removing the file will result in the error "The specific error code is Ox2" when opening Add/Remove Programs - Windows Components. That's the reason I suggested to re-create the missing pinball.inf file.

Thanks for the advice Ramesh. Can you, or can anybody you know give a reason
why Microsoft would make a file/folder such as pinball a seemingly necessary
inclusion in an operating system? It seems suspicious to me that such a
folder would be un-removable. It's JUST a game...right? Hmmmmm.

Pinball game is certainly removable via Add/Remove Programs - Windows components. But the pinball.inf file should exist, as it contains the routines for installation/uninstallation.
