Hello;
I am running Windows XP pro, and the following text appears in the lower
right-hand corner of my Desktop.
"Windows XP Professional Build 2600.xpsp2_gdr.xxxxxx, etc,etc..How do I
remove it?

P.S. I am grossly paranoid about editing the registry. Hope there is another
way.
Thanks.

There is another way. Download and install the Power Toy TweakUI from
Microsoft:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

After you install it, you'll find an entry for it in your Start>All
Programs menu. Look around in TweakUI and you'll find a place to
disable showing the OS version on the desktop.

TweakUI, a free download. Just do a search for it. The general tab has an
option to eliminate desktop version display.

Thank you. Tweak UI did the trick. Thank god, I did not have to edit the
registry.
