How to remove a Personal Folder which mirrors Mailbox?

In Outlook Mail, in addition to the Mailbox (with the house & clock logo), I
also see a Personal Folder called Mailbox (with the folders logo). If I right
click on either one, & select properties, both show me the details for the
'main' Mailbox with the house & clock logo. The 'Close' option for the
Personal folder version is deselected. It seems that the personal folder is
mirroring the main Mailbox exactly. As I can only see one set of properties,
I don't know if they point at different .PST files.

When new mail arrives, it shows up in both Mailboxes.

Under e-mail accounts > Deliver mail to..., I see 'Mailbox' twice, and when
I try to add an e-mail recipient to a mail, I get an error message telling me
that the Contacts list cannot be found. In the drop-down menu, 'Contacts'
appears twice and only the second one works.

I have tried to reinstall Outlook, but it just copied all the exisiting
settings and the problem remained.

This has baffled everyone I know, so I'd very much appreciate any
suggestions on removing the Personal Folder version of Mailbox.

Thanks,
Don

Brian, many thanks indeed - following that link did indeed solve the
duplicated Mailbox issue. The duplicated Contact entry in the drop-down menu
in the 'Select Names' window is still there. I thought it was linked to the
Mailbox issue, but it seems to be separate.

Any ideas on how to kill that one? (Coudln't find it on the website you
linked me to).

Many thanks,
Don

OK, Brian. I've sorted out the duplicate Contacts issue, which did seem to be
pretty separate, using Outlook help. Many thanks indeed for your input. The
problems are now 100% solved.

OK - I have looked at the registry and am really concerned that I'm going to
delete the wrong file when I'm looking for the ghosts. I don't understand
which file/key to delete. I can find the 2 keys (one is larger than the
other - there are more listings) but I just don't know about doing this -
what does it mean to find all 3 keys?
Thanks in advance for assistance. And yes, it's Outlook 2003 on WinXP.
