How to Reinstall IE 6

Guest

I have Win XP Professional SP2 (ver 5.1) and IE 6 SP2. I installed IE 7 Beta
to try it but it caused problems so uninstalled the program. The uninstall
removed some needed IE 6 files so now it doesn't work at certain sites. I
have the XP disk but there doesn't seem to be any simple way of reinstalling
IE 6. What is the best and simplest way (I'm not into editing the registry)
to get me back the way I was?

Make sure your antivirus is turned off.

You will need to uninstall WinXP SP2 from Control Panel -> Add/Remove
Programs and then reinstall Service Pack 2.

Hello,

I looked at the forum to find out how to reinstall IE 6 (I guess it is
corrupted because I cannot access web sites anymore ("page not found ...")
even though all Internet connections are OK (I can ping sites and machines
outside of my domain; FireFox and MSN Messenger work fine).

Do I really need to unisntall Win XP SP2 before reinstalling IE ?

Or can I simply make the change in the registry proposed in kbid=318378 and
then reinstall IE (I have all necessary files for reinstallation which I
downloaded from www.updatexp.com

What files? What sites? Have you tried?...

IE Tools > General and/or Programs (tabs) > Reset Web Settings

Did you add SP2 or did it come with the machine?

Clicked the wrong button.

Did you download the files for IE6 SP1 or IE6 SP2?
I don't trust MS files from anyplace but MS.
