Tim

Decided to try IE Beta 7. Didn't like. Tried to go back to IE 6.
Uninstalled Beta 7. Can't reinstall IE 6 because "more current IE program
installed" error. Tried to go back to IE Beta 7. Locked out because of
"other IE program loaded". I locked out either way. Help!!!!

Dumped everything program and registry wise that I could find. Still locked
out.

Microsoft has provided several support options for IE 7 beta testers:

Internet Explorer External Feedback
This is the best way to submit Internet Explorer bugs to the Internet
Explorer team.

You will need to have a Microsoft Passport account in order to use this
site. Go to the Passport site to create an account.

In order to submit feedback, go to Microsoft Connect, log in with your
Windows Live ID, then select "Available Connections." You will see
"Internet Explorer Feedback" on the list of programs available. Select
"Apply" to enroll in the program, which will take you through a license
agreement.

There is a best practices document included on the site outlining how to
open a "good" bug.

Microsoft Beta Client Tool
Report issues directly to Microsoft through the Microsoft Beta Client
Tool (you will need to install this tool before you can use it).

Although this tool may look like it was designed for feedback on Windows
Vista, you can use it for Internet Explorer 7 bugs. On the first page of
the tool, just make sure you choose "This install is an Internet
Explorer 7 update on Windows XP'" and set the Area to "Internet Explorer."

Newsgroups
Post any questions or problems you have to the
microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general newsgroup, either through a
newsgroup reader or on the Microsoft Discussion Groups site.

How did you uninstall IE7? It should have returned you to IE6.

Answer in newsgroup. Don't send mail.

I used Windows XP Control Panel / Add Remove process. I think somewhere a register entry or whatever somehow was corrupted. I've even tried using XP's system restore back to a time when IE 6.0 was working. No go. Anyway to purge everything IE related and just start over??

Did you disconnect from the Internet and turn off all anti-virus and
anti-spyware programs before uninstalling?

Right now I can't think of anything but saving your data, formatting the
drive and reinstalling everything.

No, try this program first:
IE7beta2 uninstaller:
"Forces uninstall of Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 using default files and
settings. This toolkit will uninstall Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 using
default files and settings from Microsoft. It is only intended for use if
normal uninstallation methods failed. See KB 923721 for more information."
