how to record streaming?

Recording radio to cassette was established and became
commonplace decades ago and I find just as easy from
internet radio to standard tape cassette recording.
The question is how does one record directly from a
stream to the hard drive?

Is Windows Sound Recorder the program to use? In any
case, it seems to have a 60 sec maximum. Is there some
way to allow it to record as long as the user requires?

Thanks,

Thanks. WL 4.0 looks like an impressive mastering
program.

Should anyone know of less expensive focused more
narrowly on recording, that would be useful info as well.

Thanks - that's an excellent beginning, so obvious I'm
embarrassed I didn't think of it myself, BUT the Windows
Sound Recorder seems to have a 60 sec. max before it
shuts down. Is there a way to adjust that or is there
other readily available software that will record without
that limit?

Thanks,
JT
