The Page Number appears in the status bar is i, ii, iii... and Sec Number is
1,2.. and so on. How to print a range of pages. I input the
p<PageNumber>s<SectionNumber> format in the Pages box of the Print dialog box
to print a range of pages but it doesn't work.

Put the section before the page in the dialog box eg s1p2

I think that the Print dialog box requires Arabic numbers (regardless
of the format used for the page numbers in the document).

Actually, the order is page number before section number (confusing as
it may seem).

You'll probably need to use arabic numerals for the page numbers even though
they're numbered in roman. If all else fails, I find that printing "Current
page" always works; you just have to do it repeatedly!
