Yeah, I was *assuming* the poster had a .com., and the poster was in the US.
If so, many people would want a .com address as opposed to an address that
indicates you live in another country. Ypops accomplishes the same thing
though with .com's as if you *had* pop service. And you don't have to
activate it anywhere except on your computer. I have been using it for years
on my XP desktop, and now on my Vista laptop. It works.

I use yahoo.es but, then again, I do live in Spain :-)

You know, I really need to STOP being so arrogant thinking everyone who
posts here lives in the US...I really do. Spain huh? What's the weather like
there?

I suggested Ypops before...even gave you a link to download it...but
apparently you don't want to use it although for the life of me and I
can't figure out why. It would enable you to use Windows Mail, you would
have a *US* Yahoo address, and it's free! Different strokes for different
folks I guess.

That said...you can go to www.gmail.com You can do what you want to do with
gmail, and it's free. They even configure your email client for you, or show
you diagrams on how to do it yourself.

High in the low 60s and lows around 40, Fahrenheit and partly sunny
today. I'm glad you've realized this is an international news group :-)
If it's any consolation, I am a US citizen.

And if you use Thunderbird, it has a special Gmail install, no need to
know how to configure anything.

it seems that my current yahoo address ([email protected]) has problem in
using
windows mail. can anybody recommend me any other email account which I
find
easier to work with windows mail. thus i can create a new email account.

With that address you have to upgrade to a Yahoo! Plus account in order to
use POP3.

Personally, I recommend Gmail. It's a Google service, it's free, it has a
good web interface, they give you tons of storage space, and it works
perfectly well with POP3. The only drawback, the way I see it, is Google's
practice of targeting ads to you by scanning your emails (at their web
interface only, that is).

Of course, there are plenty of other mail providers as well. Do a web
search.

when I click "cancel" following message appear:
Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol:
POP3, Server Response: '-ERR invalid user/password', Port: 995,
Secure(SSL):
Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

The error code means your mailbox can't be accessed. This probably happens
because you don't have a Yahoo! Plus account for a yahoo.com address.

Upgrade, try YPOPs or get a new email provider.

lol...deja vu

regarding Ypops, initially I did exactly as you recommended and download it
from the link you gave me, the fact is after download, a error window comes
out showing "the setup files are corrupted.please obtain a new copy of the
program."
this is why I am thinking about switch to other alternatives, suchas Gmail,
as you suggested. Does the drawback you mentioned below will do any harm to
my personal infomation in the email? because i want all of my email contents
safe.
what is your suggestion?
thanks

Actually I use Gmail as an email account. I think it's safe, although you'd
probably get better and more technical answers with someone else who really
knows about emails. Someone else here said something about ads being
targeted, but since I use Outlook Express, I don't get them. If you *do*
wind up with gmail, remember to go into *settings*....*forwarding and
pop/imap* and enable *pop* . Then you can use it in OE, or whatever mail
client you want.(there are configuration instructions right there) Post back
and let us know how it works out for you.

I have switched to gmail, and I have completed the settings on gmail, I have
already tried to use window mail to send and receive message, it works well
now.
thank you so much for your recommendation!

Google uses a bot to scan all emails for certain words and phrases, this
information is then used to select what text ads are displayed in the ad
columns in the Gmail web interface (mail.google.com). If you read your mail
with a client like Windows Mail, you won't see any of the web ads at all.

Although this can be considered spying on your internet habits, no one is
actually reading, copying or sharing your emails. Your mail is as safe on
Google's servers, as it would be with any other renowned mail provider.

You can read more in Googles's privacy statement.

You might want to try Gmail. Works fine with windows mail. You could also
try windows live mail. \
