Yahoo mail as default

How do I make Yahoo Mail as my default. In XP, you had to install Yahoo
Messenger which would add Yahoo Mail into the choices of email programs to
set default. This apparently doesn't work in Vista. The only option for
email default is Windows Mail. Please help!!

I have Yahoo! mail (beta) but it was transferred from my XP system when I
installed Vista. Sorry, I don't have an answer but someone else may. In the
mean time you may want to uninstall Yahoo mail, then reinstall it. I'm
pretty sure that if you reinstall it, you will be presented with the option
of making Yahoo your default. Good luck,
Jerry

I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, but I get a message that says,
"error loading c:\PROGRA~1\Yahoo!\Common\ymmapi.dll the specified module
could not be found".

Even before I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, when I clicked on the
desktop shortcut it asked me if I wanted to make it default and when I
clicked "yes" it gave me an error also (sorry, I don't remember what that
error was and now with this new error above, I don't get the old error
message!)

Any thoughts?

Hi akolden,

Well, I'm certainly not the best resourse for info but since no one else
has jumped in here, I'll try to help.

I had problems with my Yahoo mail and toolbar and after reading a little
about it, someone suggested that it didn't do well, coexisting with my Google
tool bar or service. Google has everything I use on a toolbar so I deleted
Yahoo's tool bar and this seemed to make my Yahoo more stable and I'm talking
about my mail. Also, when you reinstalled your Yahoo, did you disable your
anti-virus software? That may help too. Other than that, I wish I could be
of more help. Good luck with it.

Thanks for offering help Jerry, I did uninstall/remove the Yahoo toolbar that
loads when you download Yahoo Messenger, but that didn't seem to help. The
rest of my Yahoo seems to be working fine with Vista, except for this
problem. Hopefully someone will be able to provide both of us some insight.

Thanks for your help!
