How to open Photos successfully

MapleE.

Hi:
I like to see a lot of photos related to transportation.

Whenever clicking a small-sized pictures at the top part of web-page
in order to enlarge the photos, the next thing I could see is ONLY
advertisement, ... not photos, at all..

I understand that the web-master needs a financial support adding some
adversements
in order to keep running the site. However, there is NO point seeing only
ads. without
the photos.

My question is:
How to open successfully photos even with seeing ads.?

Any suggestions are VERY appreciated.

You don't specify what browser you use. I'm talking about Firefox now, but
similar utilities will be available for IE. In FF there is a utility to
kill Flash advertisements, called Flashblock. It tells you there is a
Flash-item, but doesn't open it up, unless you want to by clicking it.
Another, more drastic Add-on is called AdBlock, and this calls all bits and
pieces relating to a black-list which either you create, or you can
automatically install a list via AdBlock Updater. Third possibility is if
the ads are pictures, to figure out what site the pictures are on, and
block them in the Options-settings of FF. Make sure they are on a different
site, or else you can't view the images you want, either.

Hi:
Thanks for the response.

Mine is XP with IE and a good Pop-Up stopper installed.

In the Photo-site, it says, ...

" ... it contains, "EXIF' stands for Exhangeable Image File format.
.... You must use software that supports Exif.
and,
'... most of this Photo site contains EXIF information, ..."

Does that, above means I need to install some software to look at
those beautiful and colorful photos?
Thus, I can get ONLY ads whenever clicking small-photos in my attempts to
enlarge those photos?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Probably. I think most browsers only support JPEG, GIF and PNG.

Hi:
Thanks for the responses. I truly appreciate.

It says, ...

".... this site/photos contain "EXIF' ... Exchangeable Image File format.
and, ...
"you must use software that supports Exif. The Exif information is lost
if you save a picture in a program that doesn't support it.
There is also specialized software specifilly for extracting and editing
Exif data. "

Any idea on 'EXIF?'

Thanks again.

Ah ok. Exif is image information which is stored "inside" a special area in
an image-file. It can contain details of when it was made, the author, the
type of camera used, the shutter-speed and aperture, auto-rotation and many
more things. What they mean is that if your viewing or conversion software
does not support Exif, all this extra data is lost. Either not shown on
your screen, or wiped if you resave the picture.
A free program like Xnview
(http://perso.orange.fr/pierre.g/xnview/enfeatures.html), supports Exif.

Hi:
Many thanks for your help. I truly appreciate it.

After installation of Exif, I immediately tested it by visiting the web-site
that has many, many beautiful photos, as stated in my previous post.

I was VERY happy to see those skillful photos, however there is still a
problem
of enlarging some of photos. Particularly, photos in the middle of the
screen, although
there is NO problem of enlarging photos at the top of the screen.

Do I need to purchase a software, ... not 'free' one?

Because, it seems to me, ... 'I got what I paid for/Free.'

Thanks again!

I don't know the website you are talking about, so it's guesswork. It might
have something to do with the website-design itself? Or they put up photos
in different sizes. On a thumbnail-page all photos usually have the same
size, then you click to see the enlarged photo. Maybe these photos will
have different sizes.
Anyway, there is quite a lot of good, free (open source usually) software
available, which works almost as good as the commercial products.
