how to open a word pdf. file

I downloaded a file that has a MicrosoftWord icon on it and is a pdf file.
When I click on it word opens up and the file is not readable. How do I open
this in word? I have downloaded the fileformatconverter from Microsoft but
still won't open. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
 
If it is a PDF file, then it is not a Word file. Open it with Adobe Reader.
