How to number all slides EXCEPT the hidden ones?

How to have the 4th slide appear as slide #1 when adding slide numbers? The
first 3 slides are hidden and I don't know how to suppress the counting.

Also, how to NOT have hidden slides counted within a deck. Slides 8 and 9
are hidden, so I don't them counted when I print my final deck for
distribution.

Don't think you can, but I might be wrong.
One way you can try though, is to separate your presentation such that the
hidden slides are on one file, while the normal slides are on the second
file. Then, have them linked together:

The little add-in I wrote a while back has the option not to number hidden
slides. It changes from Slide xx of yy format to Page xx of yy format, but
does not number hidden slides.
