how to make windows explorer open to anything other than "my documents"

i appologise tht this question has been asked and answered several
times, but major malfunction, (basically i had to replace everything
except the darn case and my D HDD) please help me restore explorer to
default to D drive when i open it

Instead of Explorer, get a decent file manager like
2xExplorer (http://www.simtel.net/product.download.mirrors.php?id=34054)

Among lots of other things, it lets you view two
directories at once, easily move/copy files between
them, and when you start it up, it defaults to the
same directories you were viewing last time.

If you don't like 2xExplorer (which is a freebie, BTW),
there are other similar utilities around.

Basically, all you need do is modify the target field of your Windows
Explorer shortcut to point where you want it. For example,
"%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e ,d:\" (without the quotes) would open
Explorer at the root of the D: drive.
