How to make pages in a publishing book?

Hi I want to know how to make pages in the book before publishing it. For
example, it is common to have a blank page before Chapter 1 on page 1 if
there is nothing to say on that blank page and it is the same for every
chapter on odd page. I do not want to have a page number printed on the blank
page and how to number the pages on Chapter 2, 3, 4 and onwards. Clicking
"Different even and odd" in page setup/Layout/Headers & Footers at MS Word
does not seem to work this way as I want? Should I make separate files of MS
Word pages by different chapters of the book as the only option?

This is a Windows newsgroup. Your question relates to Microsoft
word, hence it is best asked in a Word newsgroup.

You want to post to a Word newsgroup - there are quite a few - and specify
what version of word. Here is a list of MS newsgroups on the web:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx

Look at the newsgroups under microsoft.public.word.
