how to make a bootable DVD?

I am a little confused with the rescue options for vista...
Some time ago I bought a lenovo laptop with vista pre-installed. It had
neither installation disks or rescue disks. The seller said that I had to
prepare my own DVDs.

I did not make them but now I think I should do something, just in case...

Now, from the windows guide it seems that pressing F8 at re-boot time gives
you the opportunity to have a menu for rescue...
Lenovo offers a backup & rescue utility but it backups all data not only
instsall files, and in the meantime I packed the laptop with a lot of data
and I would need many DVDs for including everything.

I would be more confortable with a simple bootable DVD (as I said , just in
case) made from my own installation. Is it possible? How can I make it?

If you don't have a manual, explaining how to make a Recovery DVD from the
Recovery Partition on your Hard Drive, contact them via the above link on
correct procedures to do it.

My Dell came with a bootable Vista install DVD. If you had bought a Dell
you wouldn't have this problem. Some of the manufacturers have a program
where you can purchase an install DVD for a nominal cost. Check the Lenovo
web site, support section. If you bought the computer from a retailer they
don't necessarily have the last word on what Lenovo might do for you.

Your Lenovo probably has a "Recovery Partition", which is used to restore
the PC to "factory configuration". Look in the documentation that came with
the PC and any on-disk help files. There is probably something about
backing up this partition to DVDs, or making a DVD from the contents.

Consider purchasing an external USB hard drive. These are real cheap. Move
your data to an external hard drive and your system partitions may be more
manageable. Consider repartitioning the HD so it suits your requirements
better.
