how to let user create network shared folders on their PC

Hi,

How do I set up the XP Pro SP2 PC to allow users with User level rights
create shared folders for network access? I never noticed till now, that
users with User rights only cannot make network shared folders, they can set
folder permissions, but not a network share. I have to log on as an Admin
to set the folder to be shared on the network. Is there something in the
security services that needs to be set? Thanks.

Hi, me again,

To make it a little more clear. I need to allow users with User level right
to make shared folders and files. Now the kicker is, I can`t have simple
file sharing enabled in Folder options. I can create shared folders or
files with an account with Admin rights, but no with User rights. Is there
a way to do it without having Simple File sharing enabled? Thank you.

The issue isn't SFS exactly but User permissions on the folders. You
will have to grant full persmissions to the Users group for the folders
to be setup as shared by users and to do so you will have to disable
SFS. You may as well setup the shares for them as administrator anyway,
it's safer and easier.
