How to leave email marked as unread upon selection but not opened

How do I get an email mesage to stay marked as unread as I flick though the
Outlook inbox when i have not opened the email, although i may have selected
it and read it in Preview Pane.And to do this WITHOUT having to manual "mark
as unread".
