How to keep Windows clock accurate?

It used to be to help with UseNet mysteries. But there haven't
been many good UseNet mysteries lately. So I don't know, I just do
it when I feel like it. Nym-shifters seem to shy away nowadays,
like they don't enjoy seeing a compilation of their user IDs or
something. Using speech automation, it only takes one word.
Someday maybe I will catch a UseNet regular who is also a Google
Groups spammer. That's one reason why I archive so many spam
posts. I also like to archive blatant spammer trolls who post five
or ten spam troll messages in a row.

Nope. I just keep track of nym-shifting trolls like you.

The name shifting was just because you accused me of trying
to be THE "Paul" here. Haven't seen anyone trying to do that
& am just attempting to differentiate myself & honest enough
to use my true name unlilke you.

You are still a shithead.

The problem I have with the built-in windows "automatically sync with
internet time server" is that it should have a setting that says to
ignore hours and just sync minutes and seconds.

Why? Set the time zone correctly and where's the problem?

You're the one who wants the information, not me. It's already been
given to you on a platter. Since you think you "run circles around
other Windows users" you must be able to easily find it. Until then,
you remain blissfully ignorant.

I would say if he "runs circles around other Windows users", then he
clearly wouldn't need to ask overly simplistic questions in a newsgroup
such as this. Therefore he is little more than a troll and best ignored.

Right, it sets the clock correctly. Unless you can explain further, it
sounds like you've got your timezone settings set incorrectly (which
will cause other issues beyond the display of the time in the taskbar);
Set your timezone correctly and this is solved.

To be precise, I was 74 on my last birthday. I tried out voice commands
many years ago and found the mouse and keyboard a much better mode of
operation. Maybe when I'm in my dotage I'll find it useful but not now.

Bullshit. The problem is you cannot do it, and you never will.
You have to be a real technician and do lots of grueling work
before you can get the hang of it. Using speech recognition, I do
personal computer stuff easier and faster than you ever could.

I'm about as jealous as I am German.

You seem to have a lot of your ego invested in a common, readily-
available commercial software package. If that makes you feel like a
superman, so be it, but don't think you look that way to anybody else,
especially when you come up with the howlers you regularly do here.

By the way, I've used Dragon's products. They're good, and designed so
pretty much any idiot can use them. They are nothing I need or want for
myself.

N

Nil

I have a friend who's 79 and in the final stages of Lou Gehrig's
who managed to install, set up, and use speech recognition about 3
years ago. I worked with him for a number of years before he
retired, and I can vouch that he is probably one of the most
computer illiterate people I've ever had the pleasure to work
with. Generally a very nice person, and an Electrical Engineer to
boot, but if it was anything newer than DOS, he was lost. If it
took you "lots of grueling work" to get the hang of it, then you
don't quite fall under the category of a "real technician." Of
course, that's just my opinion, and others may have different
ones, but hey, that's what makes the world go 'round :)

I helped my Dad set up and use whatever was Dragon's voice control
product about 10 years ago. He was nearly blind from diabetic
complications, and not at all computer literate, but he managed pretty
well with a little hand-holding and troubleshooting from me at times.
I'm sure Dragon has made their products even more idiot-proof since
then.

John Doe

I have a friend who's 79 and in the final stages of Lou Gehrig's

That just shows how careless you are. Anybody can play with speech
recognition. It has a "wow" effect. If you wanted to be a real
help, you would have followed up on his experience.
If it took you "lots of grueling work" to get the hang of it,

I didn't say "lots of work to get a thrill out of using it". I'm
talking about getting speech recognition to work in real life
computer use, after the thrill is gone.
then you don't quite fall under the category of a "real
technician."

Using speech recognition, I can do stuff easier and faster than
you or anyone you know ever will. My voice took significant
training before I could get past the initial fascination of using
speech recognition, and to use it efficiently. Then I combined
speech recognition with macroing/scripting to make an
exceptionally powerful user environment. Even if you did
macroing/scripting, like a power user does, keyboard macroing
pales in comparison to speech activated automation.

I don't expect old people to get with the program, but speech
recognition is in fact the future of computing. An old lazy fart
who depends on a personal computer might eventually be introduced
to speech recognition, maybe coming from ultraportable computing
devices that kids use.

Not being able to use speech recognition is one thing. Denying
that speech recognition is the future of personal computing shows
that you are horribly ignorant. Plenty of ultraportable
applications already use speech recognition, and that usage will
increase probably rapidly. Too bad the personal computer is
lagging behind, thanks in part to deadwood like you.

The benefit of speech automation is lost on some Zero that has
little interaction with a personal computer. It's like the

I am making it happen now, but speech recognition will probably
come to the personal computer through ultra portable computing

Speaking of clock accuracy and tz settings...

Voluntary clock police courtesy report:

Your localtime is set to UTC but your tz is set 5 hours west of the
prime meridian, like EST eastern standard time US.

The result is that your Date line information is 5 hours in the future
or Tues am UTC instead of Mon nite EST; this discrepancy is illustrated
by the Injection-Date information which the eternal-september server
stamped, which is correct and set for UTC localtime with no offset.
