How to keep email header from opening text... ?

How do I do the following:

I want to stop the body of my email message from opening automatically when
I highlight the header. ( but not double click it, I know it will open if I
double click )

This lets me delete spam without reading the crap.

I think I did it once but can't remember/or find the tool.
