How to interact with outlook calendar on a remote computer?

Hi,
the manager of my company wants his secretary to be able to remotly
insert/modify appointment on the outlook calendar on his pc .
In which way i can do this? We don't have exchange, is there another way?

mmm... it is not what the manager wants. He wants to get the calendar updated
without any other operation. Moreover he wants the calendar always open on
the desktop (but for that i found a small program).
I need some input about the ways (system architectures) to solve the problem
without using microsoft exchange, if possible .
