How to install new video car

I am running WinXp SP2. I bought a slightly better video card for my old
computer(GEForce MX 4000). It came without any install instructions. It is
plug and play.

Do I just remove the old card and plug in the new one? Will Windows
recognize the new card and install the drivers, if it has any? The new card
came with a CD for the drivers. Do I need it? Should I uninstall the drivers
for the old card before installing the new card?

Plug it in and start Windows. If Windows needs the driver
CD then it will ask you for it. There is no need to uninstall
any old drivers.

I beg to differ with Pegasus...
If the old card was an ATI card....remove the drivers under Control
Panel/Add&remove
remove the device under
Device Manager
then shut down and pull the old card and install the new card.

If the old card is a Nvidea Card then I would do as Pegasus suggests

Absolutely correct. Also ATI also offers an optional program that loads in
the system tray. It controls all assets of the video card. Deinstall that
with add/remove programs before deinstalling the driver software. Do all
the deinstalls with the old card in place. Bootup again to be sure its now
using the default video card display driver. Ignore the message if its
asking for a a driver for it. Then, turn off the PC and swapout the video
cards.
