How to import pst file into Windows mail

Guest

My most current backup of my emails was exported from Outlook 2000 into a
backup.pst file.

I can't figure a way to open this pst file.

If I could convert it to dbx files then I can get Windows Mail to import it.

I decided to install the Office 2007 Trial and then I can convert myPST
that I made with Outlook 2000. I installed Office 2000 in Vista
Ultimate, only to find that I was getting the wab.dll not found error.
If I truely like what I see with 2007 I may even upgrade. :)

Maybe the pst file is damaged or something. You can use Inbox Repair
tool which is used to repair corrupted file of pst. To run Inbox
repair tool fallow the steps:

1. Click on start goes to the search then click on files or folders
option.
2. In search box type scanpst.exe.
3. Double click on the scanpst.exe file to open the inbox repair
tool.
4. Then enter the location of Pst file and its name or browse it for
the path.
5. Then start to repair.

This way you can repair your pst file. But if your file is badly
damaged you may not able to repair it. At that time you can use some
software. You can try a tool called Advanced Outlook Repair to repair
your PST file. It is a powerful tool to recover messages, folders and
other objects from corrupt or damaged Microsoft Outlook PST files.
It's homepage is http://www.datanumen.com/aor/ Hope this is useful.

I am having the same trouble with outlook 2000 and vista. I tried this
suggestion to download the free trial of Office 2007 Standard, however the
Import Export function is grayed out in Outlook 2007. Has anyone had that
problem or suggestion on work arounds?

You might check if having the free trial version of Outlook installed
is enough to enable the Windows Mail functions for importing
Outlook files. Start Windows Mail, then click on File , then Import,
to start your search for such functions
