DVI to HDMI should work on any set. Some are picky about timings on the
VGA input, but if you have the timings right the difference you see
between that and DVI/HDMI should be negligible.

DVI on the Radeon to HDMI on the HDTV, via an adapter or adapter cable.

2nd best: Use a DVI to component video adapter (available from ATI for
some models of video cards only), then component video to the HDTV set.

It's unlikely that you will be able to do 1080i via an analog VGA port,
although it might be possible on some models.

Ultimately, this answer is to a degree dependent on both the model of
video card and the model of HDTV that you are using.

I will be shopping for the cable this morning.

The component IN on the HDTV set is already in use by a digital vodeo
recorder.

The video card I want to use is a Radeon X850 XT AGP model.

video card and the model of HDTV that you are using.

It is a Sony XBR TV and I am going to try and use both the PC
connection and the HDMI connection. It would be nice if I could use
the Sony to flip between the display options, 800x600 VGA and 1080i.(I
use 800x600 resolution to make things easier to see.)
