How to hide the IE desktop icon?

I've tried right-clicking on the desktop and going into desktop
properties/desktop tab/customize desktop/general, but the IE icon is
not one of the icons that I can display/hide. How can I hide the IE
icon?

Why don't you just right click the offending icon(s) and delete it?
It will go in the Recycle Bin (unless you hold down Shift while
deleting), but then you could further hide it by deleting it from the
RB or just empty your RB.

IE will still remain installed, but if you choose to run it, you will
have to do it from someplace besides the desktop since there will be
no icon. You can always put the icon on the desktop (or anywhere else
you want) later as long as you do not actually delete the IE
application.

Right click desktop , view , uncheck " show desktop icons " .
