Hello,

I am using XP Pro but I have turned off the Welcome screen login prompt to
the standard login prompt. But I don't like the way it always display the
last user that used the computer. Is there a way to turn it off so that
when you go and login, the name field is always blank??

Many thanks.

Kent

Kent, use the group policy editro

Go to Start | Run
Type in gpedit.msc
OK

Drill down to Computer Configuration | Windows Settings | Security
Settings | Local Policies | Security Options

Interactive logon: Do not Display last user name
Enable

Try this:
1. Open Control Panel, open Administrative Tools
2. Open Local Security Policy
3. In Local Security Settings, go to Local Policies>Security Options
4. Double click the Policy "Interactive Logon: Do not display last username"
and select "Enabled"
5. Close the Local Security Policy tool and restart your computer.

Thank you all for your help! :)

Hmmm. When I open Control Panel.... Administrative Tools.... Local
Policies is NOT an option. Is there something I need to do? Perhaps it
may be because I have set up no sign in options? I'm the only one who uses
this computer so I have it set to boot to WinXP without any sign in.

Do you have Local Security Policies?
