How to give domain resources to workgroup computers?

We have some laptops that come and go within our Server 2000/2003 network.
How can we provide the laptops access to one specific shared folder without
having the laptops log on to the domain? And, btw, it's always the same
laptops. These aren't laptops that come into our place and use our
internet. We have some of those, too, but we don't need to give any of them
network access.

If the laptops are 2K Pro or XP Pro, just create user accounts on the
laptops that match the same user's domain accounts. If the laptop users
don't have domain accounts, you'll have to create them (or, if the file
share is on a member server you can create local accounts on the member
server).

While this will work, I'd be concerned about security since this will
put a userid/password that is valid on the domain in clear text.

Also, it will be clumsy to support when the password expires...
