How to get XP Pro to show chinese?

A

ABC

I think there is a function which allows English XP pro to show the
Chinese characters in chinese documents and chinese softwares.

I have been fiddling with the language function in the control panel
but to no avail. My chinese software and chinese email is still
garble.

Did I miss something? Any help appreciated.

Hi ABC,

Have you tried the following?

Start - Run - intl.cpl
Click on the Languages tab. Check the box for Install files for East Asian
languages.

This should allow you to display FE (Far East) characters on your XP
machine.

Hope this helps,

Thx,
Nico

I just realized I CAN see some chinese after installing East Asia
characters. The softwares with the problem is ICQ 2003a and Eudora.
They would not display Chinese in XP.
Any cure?

Best to check with the people who developed these two packages (ICQ and
Eudora). For Eudora, if it won't work, you could try out using Outlook
Express which is also an email client and may well respond to the
Chinese characters you have installed onto your machine.

ICQ can display Chinese under English Windows XP.

Try this:

Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Advanced.

Under *Language for non-Unicode programs*, change it to your desired
Chinese language and locale, save your changes and reboot.
