How to get text to repeat at the top of every slide

Hi, I have a basic question. We want text to appear at the top every slide
in a PowerPoint presentation. When we go to the slide master and add the
text to the placeholder at the top of the slide, it appears on the slide
master but not on any of the actual slides. Is this by design? Are the
slide master placeholders only meant for formatting text and not to hold
actual text? If we want the actual text to appear on the slide do we have to
delete the placeholder from the slide master and add a text box of our own to
the slide master?

Thanks in advance for any information.

You are exactly right -- the placeholders in PPT are for formatting text and
not for holding actual text.

If you want the actual text to appear, you can add your own textbox to the
slide master. I wouldn't advise deleting the placeholder, though. It will
still show up when your users create new slides, and sometimes it will end
up filled with white. So instead, I'd drag the placeholder off the edge of
the slide, set the font size to very small (like 2 or 3 point) and grey like
the area off the edge of the master slide. And I'd make the placeholder
itself very small. This way, it won't throw off your view too much as you
move from slide to slide in normal editing view. And so, hopefully, your
users won't even notice it.

Hi, Echo, thank you so much for the information. :) That's what I thought
but I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks again!
