How to get rid of Dial-up Connection Pop-up Window

N

Neal Sandman

When I removed my earthlink internet ISP for DSL, I uninstalled the
software, but Windows XP did not eliminate the Pop-up COnnection dial-up
window. How do I get rid of this window? It has given me the blue screen
of death twice, and stays on my computer desktop throughout my session.
TIA

Try going to control panel | internet options - connections - and change it
to 'never dial a connection'.

Remove the dialup connection =>
IE |tools|internet options...|connections tab remove the reference to
earthlink

Sorry this didn't work. I do not have this reference selected. My
option
was "never dial a connection."

If there is no reference to earthlink in "Dialup and Virtual Private
Network settings" do you see anything relating to it in:
Start|Connect To|Show all connections ? [network connections from control
panel].
Other places to look would be in msconfig for a startup entry and in
the registry, look in the run keys and do a search with earthlink as
your search term. Please backup any think before you delete it just in
case ....
