How to get Remote Assistance working?

deko

I've tried everything I can think of:

* system properties > remote tab > advanced button
all check boxes checked appropriately

* Connected directly to DSL Modem
- No Firewall

* made sure services are running
- including Remote Desktop Help Session Manager, Routing and Remote Access,
and just about everything else

* modified (in gpedit.msc) > Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration
Administrative Templates > System > Remote Assistance > Solicited Remote
Assistance (modified to Enabled)

* made sure proper registry entries at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server

Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance.

By the way, the error I am getting is:

A program could not start. Please try again.

The Title bar says "Microsoft Internet Explorer"

Yeahim getting the same thing, I got to Remote Assistance in the All Programs and follow the guide and at the end it saids the same thng. I herd that you have to have XP Pro to do it, or server 200. If thats so, why? Is there a program that will do it?

By the way, the error I am getting is:
I opened a fee-based support ticket with Microsoft and spent 3 hours on the
phone with the kids in China (a complete and utter waste of time - be
warned: they do not speak English). They could not fix it and refunded my
money.

Remote Assistance is a feature that simply does not work for all
configurations - certainly not mine (which is a fresh install of WinXP Pro
with all patches and updates). I ended up signing up for GoToMyPC which
works great - no firewall issues - but be prepared to pay.
