Hi lister,

Server is sbs 2003, client a laptop on xp connected to server on fixed ip
address but need to rdp in from time to time. However the pc 'go off'. At
present, it is set to be on all the time but it doesn't has the fixed ip
address. So still cannot rdp in.

How can I get the laptop to receive the fixed ip address as setup in the
server rather then from router or whereever it is getting it ip address
from. I admit I don't have much understand of how ip address work and where
they are from.

TIA

If the laptop runs the Network Setup Wizard, one of the options will be to
assign a fixed or 'static' IP.

Morning Mark,

Since the network had already been setup before encountered this 'hiberation
stop rdp'. On the Local Area Connection Properties --> Internet Protocol
(TCP/IP) --> It was set to use the IP address (10.0.0.222) as reserved in
the server. However, it doesn't seem to pick up that ip address (10.0.0.222)
but any other address e.g. would be 10.0.0.36.

Any idea where to set to pick up the 10.0.0.222 from server ?
