How to fix computer if it has a worm or virus

Hi
Yesterday, my computer did not work well. It always was
shutting down. I received a message: This system is
shutting down. This shutdown was initiated by NT
Authority\System. Remote Procedure call (RPC) service is
terminated. Or I received another message when I tried
to connect to internet: remote modem not responding.
Could you show me how to fix the problem RPC worm. Can I
download update Windows XP service Pack 1 (express) if
I download anti virus software. Is it interfere for the

If your computer is constantly attempting to shutdown
or reboot, quickly go to:

Start > Run and type: shutdown -a , and hit enter.

This should halt the rebooting problem.

Then immediately turn-on Windows XP's built-in Firewall:
