FOr the love of God, I need Help

I recently upgraded from win 98 se to win xp professional
and every 5 min I get a message that says computer
shutdown initiated by NT Authority\system and in the
message box it says that the it is shutting down because
the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) was terminated. How do I
fix this problem. I cant even beonline or using my pc
at all for more then 5 min. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you connected the PC to the Internet without having first
enabled a firewall, without having first installed an antivirus
application with current virus definition files, and before installing
the KB824146 Hotfix, you're very likely to get infected from any of
the thousands of PCs on the Internet that are constantly broadcasting
the Blaster and/or Welchia worms. It only takes a few seconds of
exposure.

To stay on-line long enough to get the necessary updates, patches,
and removal tools, click Start > Run, and enter "shutdown -a" when the
next RPC countdown begins. This will abort the shut down. Also, make
sure you've enabled a firewall before starting, to preclude any more
intrusions while getting the updates/patches/tools.

What, again? ;-} Thanks for the update. I hadn't really looked
at those patches very closely, since I'm using SP2-RC1, and they don't
apply.
