how to dupe my boot drive

I'd like to replace my laptop 40G with an 80G.

1. How to dupe it?

2. Is windows going to not boot or want to reregister or something?

"How to" things I'm not sure about: Can I use an external 2.5" drive
case and temporarily put the new drive in it and dupe it that way? Is
there a windows funtion to do this or what utility would be good for
doing this?

When I put the new drive in the laptop as the boot drive, if windows
does reregister does it just do it or do I need to re-enter the disk
code, which means I need to figure out what "safe place" I put the
master disk or more likely just a certificate that came with the
laptop?

Many thanks
Tom

Go to the hard drive manufacturer's web site (either the old or the
new drive if they are different brands) and look in their downloads
section for a free drive cloning utility. Most of the manufacturers
have them, but they require that at least one of the drives be their
brand.

Good luck
