hello sir,

i have been using win2000 for the last 2 weeks. i am
facing some problems with this version of windows. in win98
i am able to disable the programmes running in the
background. but in the win2000 i am unable to find this
option. so please kindly help me in resolving this problem.

Right Mouse TaskBar > click Task Manager > click Processes tab > end task
what you are not using (some processes are necessary and connot be closed).
Suggest you learn the processes that should be running on your computer.
Just real good to know. BTW, the Applications tab is for Programs that are
running. When you're Installing software and they to close all programs that
are running generally closing these programs in waht they are speaking of.
But your AVP(antivirus program) usually is done in processe or on the system
tray(next to your clock). Ususlly you close your firewall from the system
tray or processes also.
Explorer is your Desk Top. Don't panic, if you close it. Click Applications
tab and type "explorer"(w/o quotes). Good to know when your Desktop gets
screwed up sometime.

good luck,
don
