I know there is a way to disable that "microsoft has encountered a
problem and needs to
shut down" pop up thing but I don't remember how. Can someone tell
me? Thanks.

YOu'll have to fix the problem. Even ifyou could easily get rid of the
message, the program would still close. Forget the message & fix the
problem.

Not true, I have gotten rid of the message before and the program did
not close, I had to erase all files in the past
month and now can't remember how to block the message again.

It's been my experience that Microsoft encounters a whole lot of
problems that it can't fix and then shuts down the offending program. It
seems to be doing this to Firefox a whole lot lately. I dismiss the
message and restart Firefox, restoring the session, and proceed without
further difficulties. Still, I consider the shutdown a big improvement
over a program hangup.

And, of course, Microsoft seldom gives you a clue as to what the problem
was. I think once when I reported the problem(not the Firefox shutdown),
MS offered a fix.
